Lucy and the Wolf-Northville, MI This small establishment blew me away. It has a trendy welcoming vibe, with its exposed brick and open kitchen. It’s a small casual place, serving interesting tapas made with fresh ingredients. Our server was very knowledgeable and led us through the evening. She also gave us the background of the owners and how they came to name the restaurant Lucy and the Wolf. It’s a bit of a combination of their names.
Everything we tried was a delight. Each menu item is carefully crafted and the diners reap the benefit. The small plates menu is divided into charred and chilled. Some of our favorites were the Deviled Eggs, the Tomatoes in Cast Iron, and the Lomo Style Pork. We filled up on so much, my regret is having no room for the mini donuts we saw being enjoyed at the next table. (Maybe we’ll start there next time.)
Overall, it was a fantastic experience. We savored our leisurely dinner. Enjoy a few plates, relax, order more, enjoy those, repeat as necessary. And don’t forget the creative cocktail menu. Lucy and the Wolf is a wonderful way to spend an evening.

Beau’s is a neighborhood standby for us, it rarely disappoints. This week was no exception. Walking in you’ll find a friendly atmosphere with good food and drinks. It feels like a neighborhood gathering place. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. The menu is varied, but I always get the French Dip. (If it ain’t broke…) The French Dip comes with the usual au jus but an extra side of the horseradish sauce makes it even better. It’s delicious. My husband got one of the many salad options. This time he went for the Chinese Chicken Salad and was quite pleased. In addition to the usual grill fare, they offer a special Tunnel Bar-B-Q menu. Those of you who miss crossing the border just to get a taste of Tunnel Bar-B-Q, will love a chance to try this here at home. I haven’t had a chance to try it, but it’s exciting knowing it’s an option. Maybe next time, if I can ever give up the French Dip. Overall, Beau’s is a solid choice for a good meal at a fair price. Northville is always one of my favorite Saturday night spots. An after dinner walk through the quaint town followed by a stop for coffee at My Little Paris Cafe & Bookstore (141 E. Main St.) makes for a perfect night. Last Saturday was no exception. This time my husband and I tried Table 5 and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is cozy and warm and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our plans to arrive a few minutes before our reservation to grab a drink at the bar didn’t work out, but we will be back and next time make sure there’s time to enjoy a seat at the inviting bar and try one of the cocktails. We were seated promptly by the friendly hostess and greeted by our server. We started with the Smoked Brook Trout Pate and it was wonderful. We shared the BLT Wedge Salad and they split it in the kitchen for us. It was an interesting twist on the usual steakhouse wedge, with bibb lettuce and soft boiled egg. I had the Panko Crusted Halibut and my husband had Brisket. Both meals were amazing. The entire meal was filled with interesting, inventive food. The presentation is beautiful and you feel like great care went into the planning and preparation of your meal. And of course, the most important part, it’s all delicious. I can’t wait to return to Table 5.

A New local restaurant you must eat at!. The Red Dunn Kitchen has recently opened in the Corktown area and it was amazing! This delightful restaurant opened its doors sometime around June of this year and it is getting rave reviews from most critics. The place is situated next to the Trumbull and Porter Hotel. They are open for breakfast, lunch and of course dinner. I got the burger and enjoyed every bite of it. Some of the other specialties include; Fried Chicken Roulade, Merlot Braised Lamb Leg, and Foie Grass Stuffed Quail. The Red Dunn Kitchen has both an outdoor bar and patio seating so give it a try the next time you are in the area.
